About the role
Launch your career as a Graduate Mining Engineer with Aurelia Metals and gain hands-on experience across mine planning, design, production and drill and blast activities at Peak Gold Mine.
Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you'll work alongside experienced mining professionals and collaborate with Operations and Geology teams to support safe, productive and efficient underground mining. You'll have the opportunity to build practical skills, contribute to real projects, and develop the technical capability needed for a successful career in mining engineering.
This is an exciting opportunity for a graduate who is curious, motivated and eager to learn. Through mentoring, structured development and practical site experience, you'll gain exposure to all aspects of underground mine planning and design within a collaborative and supportive team environment.
Roster: 8/6, 12 hours per day (Dayshift only)
Location: Peak Mine, Cobar NSW
Travel options
Residents enjoy a balanced roster and the opportunity to settle into the family-friendly township of Cobar. Relocation support is available, along with a residential allowance
DIDO if you live within an 800km radius of the Mine site which includes a travel allowance
FIFO from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne
Key responsibilities
Assist with developing, maintaining, and optimising mine designs and plans, including conceptual designs for new mining areas.
Support the development, implementation, and review of mine planning procedures and systems.
Assist with the effective management and monitoring of the underground mining contractor, including compliance with Aurelia Metals' requirements.
Work closely with Mining Operations and Geology to support safe, productive, and efficient mining activities.
Assist with production drill and blast design, including longhole stope design, sequencing, and optimisation.
Support short- to medium-term mine planning and contribute to continuous improvement across mining operations.
Qualifications and experience
Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent qualification.
Previous hard rock mining site experience, including vocational or university site placements, is highly desirable.
Understanding of short- to medium-term mine planning and underground mining principles.
Understanding of longhole stoping, drill and blast design, and underground mine design.
Exposure to Deswik or other specialist mining software is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of mining safety legislation and standards, with excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
Current C Class Driver's Licence.
